Author: MacFan55
Subject: 5A Week 3
Posted: Sep 23 2009 at 2:28pm

Your Ranking are right on the mark.

Based on their previous record of 2-0, thought Duncan would have provided a tighter score. Carl Albert is back on track and your QB is posting some impressive numbers- especially on the ground.

Mac had an interesting game- Ike was up 21-13 with 7 seconds left on the clock and Mac within 10 yards of the goal line. The receivers had dropped almost every pass that came their way for most of the game.

When it counted Rashuad Foreman caught the TD in the endzone- Mac went for the extra 2 points and got it. Score was now 21-21. Game went to overtime and Ike had first possession at the 10 yard line. Ike throws the ball and Rashuad Foreman makes the interception. Mac gets the ball at the Ike 10 yard line and immediately sends the Place Kicker onto the field for the winning 3 points. Mac scored 11 points in a matter of seconds and honestly although I knew it was possible to get the TD and 2 extra points, it was not probable. Sort of reminded me of Colts/Miami game- where Miami does most everything right-including time of possession and lost the game. Dylan Warner the Mac QB is a Junior and has great potential. He is a definetly a play maker and able to gain yards through the air and on the ground. Not sure how true it is, but I have heard that Dylan throws the football with so much force that its very difficult for the receivers to catch. Hopefully they will work on that this week.

The biggest surprise in 5A to me this week was Altus almost beating 6A Lawton High. Was keeping up on the score for most of that game and Altus was ahead most of that game and lost 15-14. El-Reno continues to roll in 5A1. 5A1 is a crap shoot between El Reno, Mac, Duncan, and Altus in my opinion.

Looks like the Tulsa teams are doing very well so far this season.

Shawnee sounds like a legit contender. I have heard that Shawnee's defense are a bunch of head knockers and put it to Deer Creek pretty badly. I'm still wondering what Bixby is going to do- as they have played some very tough opponents so far.

McAlester seems to be doing some serious winning so far and could be a dark horse in 5A.

Mac plays the Western High Jets Thursday night. Hope you guys dont roll up the score on Capitol Hill - kinda sad to see those inner city kids lose year after year. Have to admire their guts to play though.

How Sad

My take on week 2.

I am not about the Lawton Mac loss, they will be fine. Now, If Lawton Mac keeps giving up alot of points to the good teams then I would be worried.

El Reno impressed me with the shut out in Guthrie. Duncan looks like they could be dangerous, and I really like Bishop Kelley, they could make some serious noise.

BTW is The best team in 5A. Carl Albert is 2 (more on this below). El Reno is 3 and Shawnee 4. After that pick a team right now.

Carl Albert - Choctaw.

Choctaw is better this year on defense, but the offence is still lacking enough speed to compete week after week.

Carl Albert won 28-0 despite another 4 turnovers. 3 fumbles and an INT. This team is loaded with talent, enough talent to beat everyone in 5A including Booker T, BUT they have to hold on to the ball. All of the fumbles were when the player was fighting for extra yardage, sometimes you have to know when to go down.

Running game was great, when they held on to the ball. We lost our starting RB in preseason, but I think they found the new starter in this game.

Realmuto (20 carries for 121 yards) and upstart Darvonte Knight (14 carries for 73 yards)

Passing game was Good. most of the yards came on 2 bombs that were great passes, but other than that it was short passes.

Realmuto (9-of-11 for 179 yards)

Defense dominated all day long. This defense is very good.

I will be in Duncan this week to watch the titans play in a place were they win, but it's always tough. I expect a close game this week vrs Duncan, this game could go either way. We have to hold on to the football.

My Week 2 top 10

1. Booker T
2. Carl Albert
3. El Reno
4. Shawnee
5. Lawton Mac
6. Bishop Kelley
7. Tulsa East Central
8. Duncan
9. El Reno has not garnerd the respect they deserve but they others around the state may start to take note of how good they really are now.

Lawton Mac Arthur played VERY poorly in the 1st Quarter vs. Lawton High School and was down 19-0 at one time. Towards the end of the 2nd Quarter they started to come alive though. Lawton High's QB Cody Miller is a Junior with a football future. He is very quick, and confident in the pocket. Dillion Warner recovered a Lawton High Fumble at the 1 yard line and directed a 99 yard drive that resulted in a score, which gave Mac some confidence that they could actually move the ball against Lawton High. Lawton High has improved greatly since last year and is a very very quick team. They have a good Running back in Charles Smith and some very big guys on their line. Final Score was 33-25. Mac's QB Dillion Warner again proved he has "wheels" and scored 2 TD's on the ground, one was a 42 yard scamper. Several areas to be improved on by the Mac, and they have to get "into gear" much quicker or it will be a long season. At this point, I think they will be much more "up" against Lawton Ike next week and should do good in District Competition, but there has to be several areas of concern after this game.

Looking forward to your Week 2 thoughts C.A.

I am very proud of him. Keep him in your prayers as he will be going to Afganastan in Janurary to defend our freedom.

I have talked with a couple of the coach's and the score was decieving, we rushed for over 300 yards but threw 5 INTs. We had a TD right before half that the receiver had in his hands but bobbled it and it was Intercepted. Should have been 21-14 halftime score.

The coach's were pleased with most of the game plan but turnovers kill us. Don't get me wrong, they believe T Wash is the 2nd best team in the state. Union 1 and T Wash 2. Remember T Wash Beat Jenks in a scrimmage 18 -7.

The coaches believe they seen things that they can exploit next time we playthem. Gamplan was to pass because of the front 4 for T Wash was so good, but the pass failed and the run worked so next time it will be run first to set up the pass. T wash LB's were very weak against the run.

I have a friend who is very close to the guthrie football program and he says Guthrie is down this year, but they are going young and will be back next year.

I was very impressed with LM, that was a beat down. Coweta is a good team. I believe LM will win their District, I think El Reno has a couple of issues they are dealing with and can't find anyone to plug the holes.

Edited by CA Titan - Sep 08 2009 at 2:45pm
